Obviously, if you are googling doula then either you have had one or are looking for one. Doulas care for families before, during, and after the birth of a baby. Doulas provide emotional, physical, and educational support. There are several types of doulas; birth and postpartum are the most sought-after.
*A birth doula provides prenatal and labor support.
*A postpartum doula supports you during the weeks to months as your family adjusts to life with a newborn.
Both services are valued and appreciated!
What questions should I ask a doula?
The Inspire Team usually answers the same 3 to 5 questions at every interview.
And they are!
1. Why did you become a doula?
2. What is your philosophy?
3. What is your education?
4. How does your backup team work?
5. What does your service cost?

questions to answer!
Why!
Forever and a day, I have loved babies, birth, and helping families adjust to life with a newborn. Well, doula’ing became my passion and my journey started about 17 years ago. Fresh-eyed and longing to support a friend, I stepped into the delivery room to help capture those first precious moments on camera and I was hooked. It was a sacred and special moment and I will treasure it forever. Since then, I have attended many births all around Metro Detroit. From birth centers to operating rooms to homebirths. Each birth is inspiring!
Philosophy!
This is always a bit of an interesting question to me. It is your birth. My philosophy is to offer you, as my client, the best of me. My goal is to be energized, judgment-free, and educated on various birthing options and locations; to serve you and your family seamlessly.
Education!
I love education. I am a bit of a nerd in that way. Every day my goal is to learn something new and grow myself. So, that being said, I have a Bachelor's in Human Relations. Then I went back to graduate school to receive my Master's in Counseling Psychology. Since then, I have completed several certifications as a counselor. I have led many support groups and taught several lectures throughout the years.
I researched the most current modern training agency and decided on ProDoula. I was amazed at the level of hands-on training with a focus on judgment-free support and trained as a Labor Doula in 2017 & certified in 2019. From that day forward, I have collected trainings and certifications from popularly known courses such as Spinning Babies, Body Ready Method, Hypnobabies, and more!
Partnership!
This is the best thing since sliced bread! I have a fantastic team of doulas. We all are independent business owners and collaborate to back each other up. If there is ever a time when two babies decide to jockey for the same birthday we have you covered! You will often meet your backup doula at the second prenatal and get to know her. Sound like a plan? As always if you have questions, please let me know.
Cost!
Cost or investment? We prefer investment because, on the other side, we want your family to be better! The emotional, physical, and educational support a doula provides is invaluable. We offer classes and packages* to meet every family’s needs. We offer Newborn Care Classes, Sibling Classes, Body Ready Method Assessments, Body Ready Birth Workshops, Breastfeeding and Childbirth Education. Our birth doula packages can be modified to meet your family's needs. You won’t be disappointed with your complementary consult as we discuss what your Inspired Birth looks like and how our team can best serve you!
*Classes start at $150 and birth packages start at $1,800. For a full listing of services provided, contact us at office@inspiredoulaservices.com.
