Glory Births #6 - A Beautiful Victory. VBAC, Birth, and Hope

Every birth I attend is a reminder of God’s perfect timing and the strength He places within women. Recently, I had the honor of supporting a beautiful Christian family as they welcomed their baby through a long, successful VBAC.

This mother came to me carrying not just the hope for a new birth experience, but also the weight of her previous cesarean. Together, we spent time preparing her body and heart—through education, prayer, and encouragement. She longed for redemption in this birth, and I could feel her faith carrying her forward.

When labor began, it was clear this was going to be a marathon, not a sprint. Hour after hour, I watched her lean into the waves with courage. Her husband never left her side, speaking words of love over her. In the midst of exhaustion, her husband prayed over her, and God’s peace filled the room.

After the 4th exam without much cervical change, I took a moment to go to the restroom and have a little discussion with God. I prayed out loud, “Lord, what am I missing? What do we need to do? Show me.” And just then, without delay, I felt an urgent need to redo all the positions and start again from the beginning. Everyone was exhausted, especially this sweet mom. But we started with a side-lying release, right then left, and so on. Thirty minutes later, her contraction pattern changed. An hour later, and 50% of my personal labor circuit complete (this circuit is a combination of Spinning Babies and Body Ready Method trainings), her discomfort changed. 1.5 hours later, the circuit was completed, and she was feeling different. After a brief confusion with a resident's check, the attending physician came in to confirm --- 9.5 cm!!! The room erupted with tears of praise!

One more move…and a little rest.

At last, the moment came. Her strength, perseverance, and deep trust in the Lord all culminated in the most beautiful sight—a victorious vaginal birth after cesarean. As her baby was placed on her chest, tears of joy filled her eyes, and we gave thanks for God's faithfulness.

Victory - Restored hope in birth and in a mother's body.
Victory - Restored hope in birth and in a mother's body.

This family’s story is not just about a VBAC. It is about hope restored, prayers answered, and the incredible way God designs birth to be both powerful and sacred.

I left that birth with my heart overflowing, reminded once again why I am called to this work. Supporting families in these holy moments is one of the greatest blessings of my life.

It is with pure joy that I share each of these stories. I pray for hope and healing in each birth. Not all babies are born vaginally, and not all mothers need a vaginal delivery to heal from a previous birth. These moms need to be heard and supported in every area of their parenting journey! The next blog will be a special Glory Births #7 - Birth from Dad's View.
